Google moves too Mac or Linux (away from Windows)
We're thinking ... a moment of your time please
On the engadget website is an interesting story first reported by the FT. Apparently Google is now only offering it's employees the choice of Linux of Mac machines ... If an employee wants a window bot apparently they need senior sign off. The undertone for the story is that this is related to security issues (hacking from China). However interviews with staff point to Google wanting to move all staff of onto all products Google.
Further speculation has identified the introduction of Google OS as a motivating factor. In any case it's interesting (and no huge supprise) that google is moving away from MIcrosoft products. I know Google has it's own agenda for the switch, what is going to be interesting is seeing if later in the year anyone else follows.
UPDATE: Watch Episode 45 of twit.tv/twig to see watch the guys (Leo Laporte, Jeff Jarvis & Gina Trapani) discuss Google ban of Windows. They laugh about how google employess are apparently going to a comittee to get the purchase authorised.
