Tesco promotes IT director to CIO

The future is online, and the latest proof of this is the announcement that Tesco's IT Director is being promoted to CIO.
Last year Sir Terry Leahy announced his intention to step down the CEO position. His 14 year tenure at the helm of Tesco saw huge expansion in operations and success at the tills.
The transisition from Sir Terry is scheduled to take place on the 1st of March in March of this year with Philip Clarke to assume the roll. IT director Mike McNamara has been announced as Philip Clarke's replacement. This clearly illustrates the increasing roll IT knowledge is playing at the board level.
