The PCs 30th Anniversary
We're thinking ... less is more!

The 12th August 2011 marks the 30th anniversity of the IBM PC, and what an acheivement it has been. Or should i say, what an acheivement it was.
One of the original team behind the IBM Mark Dean, CTO @ IBM, is in doubt that the PC will be with us for much longer.
"I, personally, have moved beyond the PC as well. My primary computer now is a tablet. When I helped design the PC, I didn’t think I’d live long enough to witness its decline. But, while PCs will continue to be much-used devices, they’re no longer at the leading edge of computing. They’re going the way of the vacuum tube, typewriter, vinyl records, CRT and incandescent light bulbs."
Mark Dean, CTO @ IBM Middle East and Africa
What's particularlly interesting about what Mark has to say ... isn't that a new type of computer is replacing the PC. Although that is definatly part of the equation... Rather new ideas are replacing the idea of what a computer is supposed to / and capable of doing.
